On January 31st 2018 an extremely rare lunar event occurred, a super blue blood moon…the last seen in 152 years. An extraordinary vintage followed, inspiring Akarua to create something heavenly – a reminder of the profound effect of the moon.

Pinot Rouge is a first release Pinot Noir by Akarua from their home vineyard in Bannockburn, Central Otago. Hand-harvested and bottled early with the energy of fermentation sealed preciously inside. Broody, edgy, drinking like a lush winter rosé…a rare wine of the earth, moon and stars.
